Abertura is a one day event which presents VJing and realtime audiovisual performance by national and international artists.
Abertura means "openness" or "opening" and is the first event to happen in Portuguese territory to have an experimental perspective on VJing and realtime interactive performance.
The fourth edition of the event will take place on the 22nd July 2012.
The title identifies the event as reflecting on two meanings: creation of the new (event, future, thought) and permanent evaluation of the social aparatus. This edition has also a new component, the presentation of the work develop by two artists in residence, a related initiative taking place at a farm in Santarém.
This is the third edition of the event (and was also ment to be the last).
Through AV performances, presentations and installations the idea of "Hacktion" will be explored, as in action related to activism and/or hacking, utilizing available technologies and gathering energy from the various communities, collectives and collaborative ventures.
The second edition of this event (July 2008) explores issues related to communities, collectivities and collaborations. This year's program includes talks, workshops and round tables as well as AV realtime performances. This event also hosted first SHARE.Lisbon.
In July 2007 abertura took place with the aim to explore a variety of technical approaches to making "live visuals", whether "live" as in someone actually present to manipulate and process audio and visual display or "live" as in happening live in an installation setting.
